An ER visit

Poor Preston has been so miserable the last few days. Thursday he had a temperature of 103.8 in the night, but then in the morning woke up without a fever and seemed ok throughout the day. Then thursday night he had a fever again, but woke up friday morning without a fever again. I called the doctors office just to talk to them to see if there was any type of virus' going around and there has been. He didn't really have any real symptoms besides being fussy and having a fever. So we were going to wait it out. Our pediatrician was on all weekend so I knew that we could call her if we needed to. So yesterday Preston was very irritable all day and wasn't eating well at all. He wouldn't take any food, his bottle, or his sippy cup. He would nurse, but I was anxious since he has been eating food now that I wouldn't have enough milk to sustain him and keep him hydrated with his high fevers. He fell asleep and sometime around 10pm woke up absolutely inconsolably screaming. He was absolutely miserable. There was nothign that we could do that was helpful. I had given him tylenol and motrin a little bit earlier, he wouldn't nurse, he didn't want to be held or put down. He was absolutely miserable, my husband touched his head and he seemed to flinch from it. So that really scared me. Since he had the meningitis when he was tiny, this really made me nervous. We went to the ER, and they took us right in. He had a really bad ear infection in one ear, the other was pink but not all the way infected. The ER doctor also believes he has a stomach bug as well. Poor munchkin. They ended up giving him a heavy duty antibiotic as a shot. Poor guy cried so hard. And now he will be on oral antibiotics for the next ten days or so. We are also contemplating going to an ENT to get tubes put in his ear possibly. Here is a cute pic of my guy from a few days ago....

Swimming at the Lake

SO we have started Sam on an all natural dietary supplement that they all claim will heal his colitis, and eventually allow him to have all the regular food back in his diet. It sounds pretty far fetched to me, and I am totally skeptical, but it is a vitamin and nutrient cocktail, and so I am willing to try it just to see if it does something. If it doesn't it is a healthy dose of vitamins at the very least for him. So I am praying that it is really helpful. And if so you better believe I will be sharing all about it here. In other news Preston has ANOTHER ear infection:-( Poor little pumpkin. Both ears are pretty inflammed, and we started antibiotics on wednesday night, so he is starting to feel better. He is on zithromax again. We were able to spend some time with my mom and sister, and my nieces and nephew the other day at the lake. The kids had so much fun together. It is really sad because we don't really see our other little cousins that much so I feel bad that my kids won't get to have the super close fun memories like I have with my cousins as much.
My sister Denise, her husband Ron, and their three kids, Davion, Dasanee and Danay are all moving down to North Carolina. It will be so sad not having them around anymore. I am glad that the kids got to play in the water again together before they left

The last crazy week!

Goodness things have been absolutely crazy! I couldn't get back to this blog to save my life last week. So lets see....thursday Preston woke up having a little bit of respiratory distress and so I brought him to the doctor, he ended up getting diagnosed with bronchiolitis and an ear infection in the right ear. And was started on zithromax. I worked the weekend and was thankfully about to bring him with me, as he was being a real stinker about the bottle when he didn't feel well. Soph had PT and did really well. She is working really hard and seems to be doing really well. And then of course she complains that her legs hurt afterwards but I am hoping that she is getting strengthened thus the pain should hopefully stop soon. We sadly also found out that her preschool will be closing after this year:-( I can't even begin to say how sad I am that she won't get to go there next year. We are looking all over for another Christian preschool to send her to next year. Sam has had a good week last week. He is developing a little bit of respiratory symptoms so praying that it doesn't progress to anything.... The weekend was crazy! We had two birthday parties to go to, and then we also went to our friends house to watch the superbowl. It was a crazy busy fun weekend. I haven't had a chance to post the pics yet but I will.

Doctors appointments

Since this is my journal I try to keep track of Sam's illnesses so that I can quickly reference the last time he has been on antibiotics and which one specifically he was on...
-So I forgot to mention Sam has an ear infection and sinus infection. He started azithromycin last wednesday.

We had a fun weekend. Busy but fun. I worked my first scheduled full twelve hour shift friday night. It totally kicked my behind. I was absolutely exhausted. Thankfully I did get to sleep a few hours on saturday. I had to feed My Preston at 10:30, so I got to sleep 8:30 until 10, and once I got up Matt took Sophia and Sam on a bike ride. Unfortunately it was less than half way into the bike ride that Sophia started complaining that her legs hurt. But thankfully Matt had thought ahead and brought a rope in order to pull her bike back:-) When they came back from the bike ride Sophia was exhausted, and fell asleep.
While Sophia, Preston and I took a nap, Matt and Sam went to go fly a kite (and chase some geese!!!).
Saturday night we went to our friend's Trish and Morgan's. It was a nice time. The kids made their own pizza's which is always fun. Sophia put broccoli and pepperoni on hers. Sam had pepperoni and bacon, he is certainly his dad's kid when it comes to pizza. We didn't head home until about 11!!!
Yesterday we went to church. I was so incredibly blessed to be able to go this week. I am just praying against illness in Preston. I HATE to not go to church and just decided thatI was going to go and bring him. I tried to not let anyone touch him too much and sat in the back away from everyone. Awww was so blessed to be there:-) I am so thankful for my amazing church and church family.
There is this wonderful ministry at our church that is called the Prayer Shawl/Blanket Ministry. It is a group of women who get together and knit blankets. As they are knitting they pray over them! They gave me one when I was pregnant with Preston, it was such a comfort and visible reminder that I had an ENTIRE church body praying for myself and "Baby Surprise." Now they have made one for Preston. His prayer blankie has one of those little hoods sewn into it like the bathtowels have:-) I will post pics later....We are so blessed.
Miss Sophia has a follow up with the eye doctor today. When they were thinking that she had rheumatoid arthritis we started seeing the eye doctor, so this is a follow up. Praying that she behaves and all goes well.

BPP tomorrow:-)

I have the biophysical profile tomorrow for Baby Surprise! I am excited to see how well he/she is doing and to see how big Baby is. I can't believe I will be 33weeks tomorrow!!! I am just feeling so incredibly blessed and thankful that God has carried us so far beyond my expectations. God is using this situation to grow my faith and I am so thankful. It is amazing to see God working in situations that seem so hard and scary at times.
Last night I was tremendously blessed by two women who came over and brought me a "prayer shawl" It is really more of a lap blanket. And is beautiful. This blanket has been prayed over by many, and is a reminder to me that people are constantly praying and lifting Baby Surprise and I up in prayer. Isn't that wonderful??? I need to learn how to knit so that I can be praying for someone and sharing this amazing blessing with another person going through a trial.
In other news I think Sammy's ear infection is back:-( Poor little guy has been fairly irritable all week and exceedingly whiny, for the last two days I have said hmmm I wonder if he is getting sick, and then of course tonight he starts complaining that his ear is hurting. Please be praying for him. I will be bringing him to see the doctor first thing in the morning.

Non-stress test

Had to go in today for my first non-stress test. It essentially is a test to determine how well the baby is doing in utero, and since I have started on cardiac medicine as well as medicine for my liver they need to keep a close eye on this baby. The NP told me today that there is an increased risk of still birth with the cholestasis so they will really be keeping a close eye on me. The baby looked good on the monitor today. The heart beat was in the 140s. I was however contracting so they were concerned about preterm labor. I am a fingertip dilated, but still pretty long and thick still so praying the cervix makes no further changes for a few weeks.
I go back on friday for a biophysical profile, which is an ultrasound to check the baby's well being....The kids are at VBS at our church this week. Hoping to get some pics tomorrow. They are having a blast

Ear Infection

Since I worked all weekend I didn't really see the kids at all on saturday, and then yesterday when I woke up I noticed that Sam had a lot of drainage coming out of his right ear. I started to clean it up and it was so gross, I said something about it, and he then responded that it was much worse the day before. So I cleaned it all up, and then it didn't seem to drain anymore.
I did call the doctors office this morning, completely unconcerned as someone had just looked at his ears on thursday! He didn't have pain and didn't have a fever so I just wanted to let them know but wasn't thinking anything of it, since the drainage wasn't pussy. But of course with his immune system issues they wanted to see him right away. He has a pretty nasty ear infection. I guess the honeymoon phase of no antibiotics has worn off. He has done so amazingly well since the tonsil/adenoid as well as tube placement. He hasn't needed antibiotics since then. In the grand scheme of things we could be dealing with the another nightmare sinus infection, so this is so minor, but it has been so nice to not deal with antibiotics in so long. Now our prayer will be that it doesn't cause an increase in his GI symptoms, most specifically C. Diff.
