17 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 17 Weeks

Doctor: Not this week, but next week I have an ultrasound!!!

Size of baby: Munchkin now weighs about 5 ounces and is a little more than five inches long, about the size of a baked potato:-)

Development: Munchkins sucking skills are in full swing this week. S/He is starting to store fat to help keep baby warm. From this point on weight gain will be picking up rapidly for Munchkin.

Sleep: Has been a little better this week. I have gotten a couple of naps in, and the nausea is better so I am feeling more rested.

What I miss: Nothing really this week

Cravings: Vitamin Water, I ended up buying a case of it the other day, and noticed on some days that I wasn't nauseaous after I drank it! So then I realized that a couple of them have a huge cocktail of B- vitamins. Who knew???? At least if we ever have another baby, I will be stocking up on the vitamin waterto see if that helps the nausea earlier along.

Weight: NONE lost this week!!! I didn't gain any either but at least I didn't lose.

Symptoms: Nausea is getting better, praising God for that. My regular jeans are starting to be a tiny bit uncomfortable on the belly, makes me feel pregnant. I am also wondering if I am starting to feel the baby a tiny bit:-)

Best Moment this week: Sam especially has started being so affectionate about the baby. Rubbing and kissing my belly, talking to the baby. Talking about sharing and holding and cuddling the baby. Sophia has also started to become a little more interested. She wants to "lay right next to the baby." And will occasionally rub my belly and kiss it as well. She asks lots of questions like: is the baby sleeping? crying? is the baby hungry? Did the baby poop? etc....

16 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 16 Weeks

Doctor: I had an OB appointment with Dr Russell today. This was my first visit with her. She seems cautious and concerned with my history, which makes me feel comfortable with her. She was concerned (FINALLY) with my vomiting and weight loss and has prescribed Zofran. So I have been taking that the last few days and prayerfully the vomiting will now stop.

Size of baby: Munchkin now weighs about 3 ounces and is about five inches long, about the size of an avacado:-)

Development: Munchkins heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood a day! AMAZING!!! The baby can now make many facial expressions, such as squinting, grimacing and yawning. If Munchkin is a girl, her ovaries are in overdrive this week making her primitive egg cells.

Sleep: Has been a little better this week. I have gotten a couple of naps in, and the nausea is better so I am feeling more rested.

What I miss: Nothing really this week

Cravings: blueberries, and the ones I got are wonderful

Weight: Depending on what scale: my scale at home I have lost 18lbs, and by the doctors office scale yesterday 24lb:-( My poor baby:-(

Symptoms: Nausea is getting better, praising God for that. My regular jeans are starting to be a tiny bit uncomfortable on the belly, makes me feel pregnant. I am also wondering if I am starting to feel the baby a tiny bit:-)

Best Moment this week: Hearing the heart beat! Steady and strong. It took the doctor quite a while to find it and I was so panicky about it. I was so thankful when she finally found it and I could breathe again. Once she found it she kept the doppler there for a long time and I got to hear it for quite a while. There is just such an amazing feeling when you hear a brand new heart beating. I also made the BIG ANNOUNCEMENT To everyone this week via the computor. It has been so fun reading everyones responses and comments.

15 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 15 Weeks

Doctor: I hadn't been to the doctor this week until yesterday, when I was 15wks and 1 day. I went because I was dehydrated and feeling awful. It took 9 attempts to get the IV in, and they gave me three liters of fluid! I am feeling a little better though and am thankful that I am not in the hospital.

Size of baby: Munchkin now weighs about 2.5 ounces and is about four inches long, about the size of an apple:-)

Development: The baby can now sense light, and if a light was shined on my belly Munchkin would move away. The sex organs are now formed as well, and could be visible by ultrasound. I am hoping to keep it a surprise this time. (I can't even imagine the excitement and joy that this will bring)

Sleep: This week I have been feeling pretty tired again, but I think it is because I got dehydrated. I am sleeping alot, and often

What I miss: Nothing really this week

Cravings: chinese food:-)

Weight: Depending on what scale: my scale at home I have lost 18lbs, and by the doctors office scale yesterday 24lb:-( My poor baby:-(

Symptoms: Nausea is almost constant, and the vomiting has gotten worse again this week

Best Moment this week: We attempted to listen to the baby's heartbeat yesterday when I was getting IV fluid. It was very difficult, as it would appear that I have an anterior placenta (meaning my placenta is attached at the front of my stomach, instead of the side or the back) so it is hard to hear the baby's heart beat through it right now. But we did hear it sporadically:-) This was my first time, and I have been waiting FOREVER!!!

14 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 14 Weeks

Doctor: None this week.

Size of baby: Munchkin now weighs about 1.5 ounces and is approximately 3.5 inches long, or about the size of a lemon

Development: Munchkin now has more control over his/her muscles and can make faces. Also this week the babies fingerprints are forming, due to the way the hands wave in the amniotic fluid. The liver also starts to produce bile this week.

Sleep: I am definitely sleeping better, and am starting to get out of the constant exhaustion feeling.

What I miss: Nothing really this week

Cravings: Hmm maybe blueberries, but the ones I bought weren't that delicious

Weight: I am at 13lbs lost still

Symptoms: Nausea is still very prevalent, but the vomiting PRAISE GOD is starting to get better! I am so thankful to be starting to move away from that.

Best Moment this week: Listening to how excited the kids are that there is going to be a new baby. They are talking about sharing with Munchkin, rocking singing holding etc. They both seem so genuinely excited:-)

13 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 13 Weeks

Doctor: None this week. I did meet with a nutritionist this week. She was trying to help with the weight loss and recommendations of things to try to help with the nausea, but for the most part, there wasn't anything that she told me that I haven't already been doing

Size of baby: Munchkin now weighs about 20 grams and is almost 3 inches long, or about the size of a Nutter Butter.

Development: His/her eyelids are fused shut to protect the eyes while they are developing. The intestines are now all safely enclosed where they should be. The bones are starting to harden in the skull, ribs are starting to grow.

Sleep: I am definitely sleeping better. I did try the anti-nausea medication and it seems to work but it also knocks me out, and I sleep well.

What I miss: Nothing really this week

Cravings: NOTHING, I have been so nauseous these past two weeks.

Weight: I have now lost 13pounds.

Symptoms: Nausea is still very prevalent, and the vomiting has gotten worse again this week. I am waking up in the night now to vomit. Strangely I am tolerating the morning better, and am more likely to keep breakfast down then lunch or dinner.

Best Moment this week: WE told our families this week. My parents seemed surprised but didn't seem overly excited. Both of my brothers and their wives were excited. We told Matt's parents and they were very excited. They weren't too sure if we were serious at first though. We told his Aunt Terri who lives in Oregon and she was super excited as well. I told my SIL Tracy and she seemed very surprised but happy. And I also told my boss this week, she actually seemed really happy, but I wonder if that is the truth.
