Exhausted:-)

I worked the last couple of nights so I am completely wiped out. These pictures explain EXACTLY how I am feeling too!!! This is of course the dirtiest place ever as it is our mudroom. Our cat Louis joined her too. I unbuckled her from her carseat, she walked inside and as soon as she was inside she did this......

Busy week wrap up

This post is more for me to keep things straight than anything, so don't feel the need to read...
Monday
Regular OB appointment/ultrasound that led to concerns about my heart:-(
Tuesday
Soph had PT today and it was rough. She seemed really uncomfortable before we even went to PT, and then had a really difficult time doing the exercises. I know that all this will eventually help her, but it is so hard to deal with the fussing/whining and pee/poop accidents when her hips are hurting her.
wednesday
Brought Sam into Children's to see Dr Baxi his immunologist. He is a great doctor, I feel so blessed to have him. However in the process of this appointment, and mentioning how difficult IV sticks have been, we had the discussion about doing subQ immunoglobulin therapy. Dr Baxi seems to think that this will be a good thing. I am having a difficult time getting past the thought of going once a month, and switching down to once a week! It just seems like he is going to be stuck so often, that I don't know if the IV difficulty is less traumatizing than weekly injections? Not sure what to do about this??? But he is 40lbs and 43.5inches! About the 43rd percentile. Higher than he has EVER BEEN!!!
While at Sam's appointment I got the call that I needed to go back into Brigham for an echocardiogram. Sam was such a good boy throughout this long day!!! I am so blessed to have a child who totally accepts and understands the hospital environment.
Thursday
Then to today. I had to go back into Brigham to meet the cardiologist. I still am trying to wrap my brain around this appointment. She said essentially that her interpretation of the echo was "normal" but that another cardiologist that saw it interpretted it as low ejection fraction. So I am not sure exactly what to think about that. And then after I got home I called the local hospital and got the results of the echo that I had when I was pregnant with Sophia. My ejection fraction then was 65, and now it is 50. I am not sure what the effect of that decrease is....I also had blood work and am currently wearing a holter monitor too, praying that the weird stuff that has been going on will be visible on the monitor.
We will follow up with cardio in two weeks unless something comes back crazy abnormal.

U/S and pregnancy update

First I am just beyond thrilled to say that Baby Surprise is really big!!! They are saying he/she is in the 79th percentile!!! I am so excited! The ultrasound today looked really good. The baby weighed 3lb8oz! Sam was born at 35wks and was 4lb5oz so I am super excited this baby will probably be bigger than Sam was in another week or so!!! It would be so amazing to bring home a full term newborn! I am praising God that this baby is growing so well! And the baby is head down!!! So my hope of having a VBAC is possible too.
On a not so good note, I have been having some weird new symptoms with my heart and breathing. My heart has been racing at times, up into the 140s! It has been scary, I get light headed and dizzy sometimes with it. It doesn't matter if I am sitting, sleeping moving around it just comes on suddenly. I have also been having periods of time where it feels really difficult to breath, and my respiratory rate increases dramatically. The doctor sent me for an EKG today, and although I didn't get the results yet, I was able to see some of the report before I left, and it did say "abnormal EKG" and also listed some things that were abnormal about it. So now my anxiety is creepy up. I have been feeling so exhausted, what if it is my heart?:-(

GI update

Sam had a great appointment with the GI doctor today. He is 40lb and 43inches! He is growing by leaps and bounds and the doctor is very pleased. It is so nice to see him finally growing so well. He looks healthy, and certainly has had increased activity levels recently:-) They did decide to recheck him for Celiac disease but I haven't heard the results yet.
Praising God for a great report for my little boy:-)

Sam's Birthday Celebration Part One

Way back in March, after Sophia's third birthday party Sam stated that he wanted to have a camping birthday party with his friends. Way back then, I was thinking goodness I will be almost 8months pregnant, and it will be the middle of the summer, and thought it would be a miserable experience. However I wanted to do this for him so we did. And boy was I wrong....
My in-laws aloud us to borrow their camper, which was fantastic for me. It had two separate beds, so the kids had one as did Matt and I. It had running water, a fridge, and a sink. It was perfect.
We gave our friends/family an option to join us to make it a really fun weekend. We did have several friends join us and they made it so special for Sam. The first day/night consisted of swimming, bike riding, and s'mores around the campfire. These pics are from that first night...

And then the night time festivities...

Lakeside Vacation

A few weeks ago Matt's parents rented a little house on a lake for a week, and we were so blessed to be able to go and spend several days there. The kids and Matt slept there but I did not. The kids went out in the kayaks with Matt, swimming, built sand castles, and Sam fished and caught AT LEAST 20 fish!!! It was unbelievable, almost as soon as his line hit the water there was a fish on his line. He had such a blast.
The kids absolutely loved building sandcastles in the sand with Daddy. It was so fun to just relax and enjoy time together as a family without being stressed out about anything (well except while we were at the lake is when I started all this pre-term contraction stuff)

28 weeks!

Slow and steady we are getting there! It feels crazy to be here, after at 20 weeks there was a question as to whether we would even get to viability. We are just so tremendously blessed.
How far along:
28 Weeks

Doctor: I was supposed to go this upcoming wednesday but it has been postponed because the doctor is adamant that I have an ultrasound, and the insurance won't pay unless it has been two weeks from the last one (the labor and delivery visit)

Size of baby: Munchkin now weighs between 2 and 3 pounds!!! Although after that ultrasound at labor adn delivery where the baby weighed 2lb 5oz it might be bigger than 3 pounds!!! This is just so exciting to me. Baby Surprise is about 15inches long, or the length of a cinnamon churro:-)

Development: Baby Surprise's eyelids are partially open now and he/she also has eyelashes now. Sucking and swallowing are being practiced continually now. Baby may also have a head full of hair by now.

Sleep: For the last week or so all of a sudden I have had desperate struggles every night to sleep. I don't feel as though I am uncomfortable I just can't turn my brain off. I wake up thinking of all kinds of stuff that I have to do.

What I miss: sleep

Cravings: Mango, watermelon and frozen lemonade. And Matt brought me Haagen Daaz Mango sorbet tonight, can I just say how delicious it was??? YUM!!!

Weight: I have gained two pounds this past week! I have been getting a little swollen, so I am sure some of it is fluid. This puts me at 15 pounds less than when I start

Symptoms: Heartburn, has been intermittent this week, some days much more mild and some days much worse than it has been. I have now started with some swelling in my feet and hands, as well as a tiny bit in my face one day

Best Moment this week: Realizing how close we are getting, and each day feeling this little one thrive in there. I so enjoy seeing Sam and Sophia's face when they are feeling the baby kick

Our Garden...

We have had such a great time with our garden so far this year. WE have had no weeding really, and everything is growing tremendously well. I love that Sophia is asking to bring Sugar snap peas with us when we go places as a snack:-) Sam is willing to eat lettuce (if it comes from our garden, he has always hated lettuce but will ea

t it from ours, as well as him saying he will try tomatoes from the garden).
We have been picking lots, and are now really starting to have an over abundance of veggies! I love it!!!

27 weeks and a trip to Labor and Delivery

Goodness! What a week it has been. Many trips into the city for doctors appointments and then pre-term labor for me:-(
This weeks update is going to not follow the same format as I don't have the energy. Let's see, I had some contractions last weekend but I had severe diarrhea prior to that so I just assumed that I was a little dehydrated. I really started drinking alot and once the diarrhea was resolved contractions stopped.
Enter a crazy week of doctors appointments for the kids and for me, and I think things were just too much. I saw the nurse practitioner on wednesday and all looked well. She ordered some special tests for all the diarrhea that I have been having and was concerned about my lack of weight gain. My blood pressure was great, I had no swelling what so ever. So it was a fairly good appointment. I came home after that appointment and started contracting several hours later. I had this time frame in my head in regards to when I would head back into the city if the contractions didn't stop. Thankfully they did.
I still called the doctor's in the morning just to get more clear instructions as to when enough was enough for contractions and when I would need to head in. SO I laid low all day on thursday and contracted intermittenly but 4 was the magic number and I didn't hit that until about 7pm. I then called the doctor and was incredibly impressed. Within five minutes of my page I was on the phone with him, and he had reviewed my chart. With my history he didn't feel comfortable with me staying home so he had me come in.
I was contracting anywhere between 3-15minutes apart. But we are praising God that my cervix is still closed. And praying that these contractions don't do anything. AT this point I am home with instructions to call if anything gets worse. Just trying to take it easy and keep this baby cooking on the inside.
I did have an ultrasound and the baby is 2lb 5oz! Which is a little on the big side for this gestation! I am thrilled to pieces about this:-) I am praying for a big fat full term healthy baby:-)
Please pray for this sweet baby that it can continue to grow and thrive INSIDE:-)

26 weeks:-)

How far along:
26 Weeks

Doctor: No actual appointment until wednesday. I did speak with them this week as I have continued to have diarrhea for some crazy reason. I was feeling ok with it until friday and just felt absolutely terrible, I called yesterday and was told to rest adn try to stay hydrated and to call back today. I called back today and they finally agreed to let me take some immodium and that has helped immensely. So I am feeling better, pretty exhausted but better.

Size of baby: Munchkin now weighs between 1 and 2/3 of a pound and 2 pounds!!! This is just so exciting to me. We had such a scare several weeks ago with a question of viability that each day/each milestone, each new weight is just so thrilling to me. Baby Surprise is about 14inches long, or the length of a burp cloth:-)

Development: Baby Surprise's eyelids are no longer completely fuzed shut, and he/she may open eyes in response to light. Hearing is improving as well, and he/she probably recognizes my voice as well as other voices that are frequently heard.

Sleep: Sleeping is still pretty good. I am still tired often though

What I miss: Nothing really this week

Cravings: Mango, watermelon and frozen lemonade. And the absolute best sub sandwich I have ever had: It comes from this place called Gabby's. It is a turkey sub, that has flavored cream cheese, onions, lettuce tomato, bacon and I am not sure what else but I drove by one day and could actually taste it:-)

Weight: Unfortunately I am down six pounds, I am thinking it is from all the diarrhea. But hopefully now that it is resolving this will change, I certainly feel like I could eat a ton if my stomach could handle it.

Symptoms: Heartburn has improved this week, as has the right upper quadrant pain! I have had terrible GI symptoms though, but prayerfully they are resolving

Best Moment this week: My sister and I went shopping for Baby Surprise! I am finally starting to feel safe and excited that this baby will survive. And then also anxious as I in the past have ended up on bedrest by 28 weeks, which doesn't leave me much time to get everything ready. I pulled out all the gender neutral clothes and blankets and washed and put them away. It was so exciting:-) We bought a new carseat and coming home outfit/blanket. And then some other odds and ends. I love celebrating this miracle that God has blessed us with.

Psalm 139:13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb.
